Architecture

3500 Technology Dr is using an architectural design and facade materials that compliments the connecting existing building. This will ensure the whole office building is cohesive. The plans on the inside were designed to promote collaboration between team members. The plans offer an open office feel in the middle with private offices along the perimeter. A cafeteria will be added to encourage coworkers to eat together and get to know each other better.

Roof

There is a lobby roof that houses the mechanical equipment shown in Figure 1. Shown in an area of the roof plan in Figure 2, the roof is made out of metal coping, screen steel, and TPO roofing over tapered insulation

Fire Protection

Fire protection for 3500 Technology Dr was not only important to the safety of occupants in the building addition, but also to the safety of occupants in the existing building. The fire protection should conform to the following codes: National Fire Protection Association /2009 Edition, International Building Code/2009 Edition, International Plumbing Code/2009 Edition. Approved fill material for fire barriers shall be packed mineral wool, T & B Flame-Safe, 3M Fire Barrier caulk or Dow Corning RTV foam. Fire barriers shall include 1-hour, 2-hour, 3-hour and 4-hour UL rated floors and walls. The figure shows the fire riser diagram.

Transportation

There are two elevators in the addition closest to the existing building. There are two staircases as well that can be used to access each floor. Each occupant can enter the existing building and walk through the addition on any floor. Access to the building is confidential and is contained to only a few access points so that badges and credentials can be checked before entrance to the building.

Telecommunications

THE TELEPHONE AND DATA SYSTEMS SHALL BE OWNER FURNISHED, OWNER INSTALLED THROUGH THE OWNER'S VENDOR (THE VENDOR) UNDER A SEPARATE CONTRACT. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL CONDUIT WITH PULL WIRE AND 4"X4"X2 1/4" BOX UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS AND ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS WITH THE VENDOR PRIOR TO ROUGH-IN. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL BACKBOXES, CONDUIT, GROUNDING AND SHALL INSTALL ALL SPECIAL BOXES WITH PLASTER RING FURNISHED BY THE VENDOR FOR THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE CODES.
